SURFACE DESIGN

Textile Design

In this studio course, I was given the chance to learn more about different surfaces and I learnt the ways in which a surface may be decorated, treated and constructed. This included techniques such as transfer printing, felting, etching and many more (process pictures can be found below).

For my final output, I based it on the visuals of the galaxy. My main product was a two-piece swim suit set inspired from the colours of the galaxy and rocky surface of planets. For the next product, I felted the planets in the solar system and sewed it onto a beanie I knitted.  I also knitted a pencil case and a sock which I embellished with beads. I packaged my process in drawers and attached them with wooden tags made from laser cut. Lastly, everything was branded and labled with a slip of translucent paper.
